Most dog foods on the market are made with some form of grain. Although grain is not a bad ingredient, it seems that some dogs thrive much more on a dog food made without grain. Each brand of grain free food will have its own unique recipe to fulfill your dog’s needs. The main ingredient in these foods is meat and often a grain free dog food will have more than one type of meat in the ingredients.

Regardless whether you choose grain free or not, you need to read the labels of you dog’s food. By sticking to a high quality dog food that uses meat as its main ingredient and not corn, you are already doing your dog a big favor. Also try to make sure the food you buy is pesticide and hormone free. You may pay a little extra for these foods but your dog will thank you for it. If you notice a big improvement in the way your dog feels and acts then you know you have made the right choice.
